Standard for Wireless in 2012?
Automotive and Food & Beverage count among the top user industries of wireless technolgy in EMEA countries. In this region, which comprises Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, wireless applications are prevalent rather in production than in process industries according to figures of Frost & Sullivan. When examining all applications as a whole, wireless in these countries is mainly used for processing materials (42 percent), in robotics (31 percent) and for packaging (27 percent).
According to the Frost & Sullivan study, wireless technology will increase as it allows for transporting large amounts of data, makes for low energy consumption and is suited for a wide range of applications. The market is still in its initial phase. What is important for the further development, according to the users queried by Frost & Sullivan, is to optimize the reliability of transmitted data and to establish a standard for the communication protocols used for data transmission. A realistic time horizon for this to happen is the year 2012 according to market researchers.
